Education Overview


  • Our Summer Camps offer kids ages 9-12 the opportunity to learn about our region and how to be good environmental stewards.  Learn more  – click here.
  • We organize FREE, public environmental seminars every 1st Saturday of the month that cover topics and issues pertinent to the Lower Cape Fear River Basin.
  • We partner with New Hanover County Schools and the City of Wilmington to teach every New Hanover County eighth grader about the impacts polluted storm water has on the our region’s water quality through the Enviroscape® tool.
  • We offer internships for students, especially for those who have an interest in environmental science.
  • At Greenfield Lake, we offer Environmental Education classes and Field Trips for school-aged groups and other organizations.  Click here for field trip details. Our thrilling and educational Raindrop Journey Game is just $5/student!
  • We lead Eco-Tours at Greenfield Lake.
    Walking Eco Tours – $3/person $20 minimum.
    Guided Eco Tours on the Water  –  $10/boat + $30 guide fee.
  • CFRW offers water quality education programs to civic groups, schools, developers, homeowner associations, trade associations, and other organizations, and provides storm-water management training for local government staff.
  • We host free education days for the community. Visit us at our StriperFest Community Education Day each year in January and our LakeFest event in May at Greenfield Lake.
